Sign of the Times: County Judge Mows Courthouse Lawn

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd was seen mowing the lawn at the Tom Green County Courthouse in downtown San Angelo Wednesday afternoon.

Floyd was using a riding mower to cut the grass. 

"Judge is a good man and he loves this county." said Sandi Kenney, the Judge's assistant.  "He has been in this office working non-stop answering calls and having online meetings."

Floyd is one of the directors of the Office of Emergency Management handling the Coronavirus crisis in Tom Green County. The Office of Emergency Management is a unique agency that serves the City of San Angelo and Tom Green County. Under federal and state regulations, the directors of the emergency management program are the chief elected officials: County Judge Steve Floyd and Mayor Brenda Gunter. Emergency Management Coordinator Jim Evans oversees the daily operations of the program.  

Judge Floyd coordinates with local, state and national leaders on a daily basis working on the Coronavirus crisis in addition to his regular duties which include presiding over the Commissioners Court, probating wills, presiding over emergency detention orders, writing the budget for the county, and working with the 27 other elected officials in county government.
