Coronavirus: Tom Green County Commissioners Ratify Disaster Declaration

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday morning ratified the Coronavirus disaster declaration signed by County Judge Steve Floyd on Friday.

The ratification extends the disaster declaration until further notice.

As we reported Friday, the order effectively brings the county inline with the Governor's executive order and the action by the San Angelo city council. No more than 10 people can gather in one room and, "for clarity this includes but is not limited to weddings, religious services, parties, funerals, sporting events, conference and other gatherings."

The disaster declaration requires "social distancing, provision of hand sanitizer, and increased cleaning of surfaces are required."

"This declaration prohibits all restaurant and bar activities with the exception of carry-out or delivery services."

The disaster declaration applies countywide including the city of San Angelo and the communities of Grape Creek, Water Valley, Carlsbad, Wall and Christoval.

"This declaration authorizes the county to take any actions necessary to promote health and suppress the virus, including the quarantine of persons and occupied structures, regulating ingress and egress from the county..."

As of Tuesday morning no cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Tom Green County.
