Gov. Abbott Requests Tom Green County be Named Disaster Area for SBA Loans

AUSTIN, TX — Governor Greg Abbott has asked the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) to declare Tom Green County a disaster area following the severe storms that impacted the area the weekend of June 23 through 26

These storms affected many homes and businesses, creating an economic emergency for the residents of the county. The Governor is asking the SBA to make long-term, low-interest-rate physical disaster home and business loans and economic injury disaster loans available to citizens and businesses affected by the disaster. If granted, these loans will be made available to affected citizens who qualify in Tom Green and contiguous counties.

"Rebuilding one's life after a traumatic event like this is a seemingly impossible task, but I am hopeful these disaster loans will help ease that burden," said Governor Abbott.  "In the aftermath of these storms I ask that Texans in Tom Green County come together as the recovery effort continues, and I urge the Small Business Administration to move quickly in granting my request and thank them for their continued support."
