San Angelo Cardiovascular Center Celebrates Success

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Cardiovascular Center of Excellence celebrated serving 100 patients since opening earlier this year.

The center opened in January of 2020 and has served 100 patients from the Concho Valley.

"Thank you to the residents of San Angelo and surrounding areas for their support to our successful opening of our new office and cath lab 5 months ago," said Dr. Milton Leon with the SACCE. "We have successfully performed over 100 procedures for increasing blood flow in the arteries and veins of the lower extremities in our facility which is the only office based facility here in the Concho Valley."

The center specializes in treating Peripheral Artery Disease which one out of every three Diabetic patients have.

With P.A.D many patients can contract Critical Limb Ischemia which could lead to amputation. At the center Dr. Leon and his staff perform procedures that clear up arteries and veins that have blockage to try and save body parts instead of losing them.

"It is very important to raise awareness on P.A.D. so that no one has to lose a limb," said Bruce Johnson Chief Development Officer at SACCE. "With a vascular diagnostic screening we can help save someone's life."

A study of 20,000 Medicare P.A.D amputation found that 54% of patients never had a vascular diagnostic screening prior to being amputated. After an amputation life expectancy for the average patient is only three to five years.

"Lastly, I want to mention that the out of pocket expense to our patients is significantly less for the same procedures than if they were to have it done in an in-patients facility." said Dr. Leon. "We are very excited that we are able to offer these services to the citizens of San Angelo and the Concho Valley at a lower expense and are able to meet the budget of most of our patients.

The San Angelo Cardiovascular Center of Excellence is located at 3180 Executive Dr Suite 102.
