Congressman Conaway Comments on COVID-19 Legislation

Washington, D.C. — The House of Representatives Friday unanimously passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide critical, targeted relief to Americans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released a statement following the vote:

“Our country is facing an unprecedented public health crisis that is upending every aspect of our lives and threatening our economic stability. The CARES Act, which passed both the House and Senate along strong bipartisan lines, helps mitigate the fear and uncertainty of the situation by providing our workers and families with financial security, and investing in the programs that will enable us to overcome this challenge.

“This legislation delivers crucial monetary relief to American workers and families, lends a helping hand to small business owners, and provides our health care professionals with the tools and resources they need to continue battling the COVID19 crisis on the front lines. Also included in this relief package is critical help for our farm and ranch families who are tirelessly working to keep our grocery shelves stocked.

“We are a nation of survivors, and I have great confidence in our ability to re-emerge from this crisis stronger than ever before.”

So much for the social distancing practice in the photo for this interview. It reminds me of the picture of Trump and his band of idiots standing shoulder to shoulder in the white house for a photo-op while signing the $2.2 trillion dollar CARES about re-election bill.
