Brownwood Fire Chief Resigns to Move Closer to Home

BROWNWOOD, TX -- The Brownwood Fire Department will be looking a little different once July 17 comes around.

The current fire chief Chief Eddy Wood has put in his resignation Friday. He became the chief of BFD in April of 2017.

Wood accepted a position to become the Division Chief at the Saginaw Fire Department. Saginaw is a town just north west of Fort Worth.

“I look forward to locating closer to my family, and have enjoyed my time in Brownwood," Wood said. "The members of the Brownwood Fire Department have embraced the positive change and are committed to providing exceptional customer service!”

Wood is originally from Azle just fifteen miles west of Siginaw.

City Manager Emily Crawford told KTXS the City will name an interim fire chief before Wood leaves.

She said they will also begin looking for a permanent replacement within a month or so.
