City Seeking Volunteers for Annual Neighborhood Paint Blitz

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Volunteers are being sought for the annual Neighborhood Paint Blitz on Saturday, April 27.

According to City of San Angelo Public Information Officer Anthony Wilson, this year’s effort will target homes in the Belaire neighborhood in northwest San Angelo. Work will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. or when the painting is complete. Volunteers age 15 and older are welcome. No painting experience is necessary, and all supplies and tools will be provided. Volunteers will be fed breakfast and lunch.

The Neighborhood Paint Blitz is a yearly effort to prevent blight in residential areas by sprucing up the homes of low-income residents, most of whom are elderly and disabled, who otherwise are unable to repaint their houses. Improving individual homes tends to create a positive ripple effect across a neighborhood.

Both individuals and teams are being enlisted. To sign up or for more information, contact Bob Salas, director of the City’s Neighborhood and Family Services Department, at 325-655-0824 or [email protected].

The Neighborhood Paint Blitz is a partnership between the City of San Angelo and Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness program.
