Popular West Texas Brewery Suspending Operations Indefinitely

ALPINE, TX-- The Big Bend Brewing Company in Alpine is suspending all operations beginning today.

The company made the announcement on Dec. 21 after struggles with their under-construction San Antonio facility and other factors.

"Now, due to a combination of unforeseen hurdles in building our San Antonio location and the challenging macroeconomic conditions affecting investment in the craft beer sector, we find ourselves facing some tough choices," the company said in a statement on Facebook.

However, Big Bend Brewing wants to make sure the closure is not permanent.

"We remain hopeful and are working hard to make the stoppage temporary," Big Bend Brewing continued. "The goal is to come back better than ever. We are no stranger to adversity-- forging a craft beer brand in the rugged frontier of West Texas is no easy task."

The company still has a pair of "very special bottle releases" set for 2019. Fans of the company can expect to find those bottles in January and on Valentines Day per the company's statement.

"While we work through our difficulties, we humbly ask you to show your support for our beer, our brands, our retailer and wholesaler partners, and our company's future in general by sharing a Big Bend beer with your friends," the company said.

In 2018, Big Bend Brewing won 31 medals at beer competitions across the country. Their crowning achievement of 2018 was a gold medal at the World Beer Cup for their National Park Hefeweizen.

Big Bend Brewing opened its doors in 2012.

Good, maybe the closure will prevent Yantis from twisting off on another drunken Beetle Bailey Beto rant.
