SAN ANGELO, TX -- Heritage Park being constructed by David Mazur will have their grand opening Saturday, November 17th at 10 am. The celebration will include musicians and a Monarch butterfly release. The land for this park was donated by late J. Willis Johnson.
The "show and tell" pocket park is located at the corner of East Towhig and South Oaks, right in the heart of downtown. It is intended to solute and showcase Concho Valley Area's ranching influence and impact. It will show children, shoppers and visitors the story of the area's ancestral beginnings through sight and sounds and also encourage conservation of some of our most precious resources. Personal stories of the Concho Valley ranching families will feed into a video loop designed to educate tourists and school children who will be encouraged to visit the site. Sculptures by Scott Sustek and Raul Ruiz, plus native plants, Wifi technology and a rainwater catchment structure will also enthuse visitors.
The Park's committee is comprised of local artists, builders, historians, horticulturists and philanthropists. Dignitaries in attendance will include Matt Lewis, whose organization will ensure that this park is everlasting, and Lee Pfluger who spearheaded this project.
