New Businesses Coming to San Angelo Pending Permit Approval

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A variety of new business have sent in applications for building permits here in San Angelo. Some of the new businesses include a new Starbucks, Bahama Buck's, Dairy Queen (DQ), and Firehouse Subs.

Al Toress, Building Permits and Inspections Official for the City of San Angelo, said there are no set days to begin construction, however, he says the permits are a good indication of what is to be expected.

“Right now [the businesses] have [only] submitted for permits," Toress says. Furthermore, "some projects can take less than three months [while others] can take a year,” Toress added, “it depends on the construction firm and the company’s standards.”

Here are the locations of the new businesses set to come to San Angelo:

A new Starbucks will be located at 5651 Sherwood Way, in the old Chik-Fil-A building, Toress said. There are two additional store fronts currently available for other tenants to share with the new Starbucks.

Bhama Buck's and Firehouse Subs plan to open in new retail spaces behind The Grill. Jimmy John’s is planning on locating across the street from The Grill at 5770 Sherwood Way. There will be one additional tenant space next to the Firehouse Subs location and two additional spaces next to Jimmy John’s, Toress added.

The new DQ will be move into the store location of the old Church’s Chicken, located on Knickerbocker Road. Panda Express, which LIVE! covered late last year,  will also make its restaurant debut this year. The food chain plans to open next to the Chik-Fil-A on Sherwood Way.

"There has also been [several] open discussions between the City and Cotton Patch Café developers to decide if they will be opening a location in San Angelo," added Torres.  Torres said he has spoken with the construction developer on the  possibility, saying its “common knowledge” about the new location. After the Cotton Patch Café submits for a permit, the new location is set for a store front in a strip mall across from Mitchell Buick GMC, located at 4106 Sherwood Way.

The strip mall currently located at 4106 Sherwood Way is being torn down to accommodate the construction of Champions Car Wash. The Cotton Patch Café, according to Torres, will be sharing the location with the new car wash. Click here to read more about the numerous business closures happening to construct the new car wash.

The Ultimate Air, LLC is slated to open a new indoor trampoline park in 2018 as well.

The trampoline park is projected to have 10,000-12,000 square feet of jumping surfaces and is equipped with a wall-to-wall trampoline arenas, a kiddie court, and basketball dunk lanes, according to an Ultimate Air press release.

“We are thrilled to be joining the San Angelo community, and excited to offer a fun, family friendly entertainment venue that encourages physical activity and quality time for groups and jumpers of all ages,” Buddy Caubble, President of Ultimate Air, said.

Ultimate Air offers birthday party packages, group packages for schools and churches, and individual reserve-ahead passes that can all be booked in advance online, the press release stated.
