Chick-Fil-A Hosts Cow Appreciation Day Celebration

The doors burst open as a stream of bovines rush into the building. Cows practically climb over each other at first, but eventually settle into an orderly line.

This is not a glimpse at an out-of-the-way feed lot; this is what is occurring right now at Chick-Fil-A restaurants across the nation.

Today is Chick-Fil-A’s annual Cow Appreciation Day. Anyone that visits the restaurant or the drive-thru fully dressed as a cow by 10 p.m. will be treated to any meal on the menu.

In order to receive a full meal, however, a customer must be dressed like Chick-Fil-A’s bovine mascot from head to toe. Wearing just a spotted t-shirt or another cow-like garment will allow customers to score a free entrée.

“Since about 10:30 or 11 this morning, it’s been pretty crowded,” Chick-Fil-A assistant operator Blake Wilson said. “We expect it to stay like this probably until we close. Like I said, as people find out what’s going on, share it with their friends, we expect tonight to be pretty busy as well.”

Diners at the restaurant sport spotted clothing, horns, or even utters. Chick-Fil-A also provides resources online to help flesh out cow costumes.

“It’s just a day to celebrate the cows, our mascot,” Wilson said. “Kind of reminds people of the interesting mascot that we have. It gets people involved and we’re glad that Chick-fil-A sponsors it every year for us and keeps it going.”
