Shopping Continues Online on Cyber Monday

“We are really thinking in a couple of years its not going to be just Cyber Monday, just kind of like Black Friday is no longer just Black Friday,” said Eric Jones, co-creator of bestcyberweek.com.

He said,“Its going to be two weeks of deals, black week and cyber week.”

In 2005 Shop.org first used ‘Cyber Monday’ to describe the day of sales following the weekend after Black Friday. Since, then other retailers have caught on.

Jones said this probably is the best time for consumers to get deals. He said “What happens is you see a lot of copy cats. As soon as Wal-Mart does something, Best Buy, their biggest electronics competitor, will do the same thing, and Amazon will copy that. Before you know it, all the retailers will have dropped prices.”

When shopping online there is less chaos than Black Friday’s in store sales, but a game plan is helpful.

“There is more time for browsing but knowing what you are looking for is going to make it easier,” Jones said.

He advised to make sure shoppers are using reliable retail websites to ensure cyber security.
