Maddy Thorson’s follow-up to Towerfall employs a familiar aesthetic and language from videogames past to tell a story about mental health and self-actualization, using the mountain the game is named after as a representation of a young woman’s struggles with depression and self-doubt. Celeste is an inspired triumph, with art that recalls the early ‘90s, and requiring a precision to navigate its levels that comes straight out of the heyday of platforming. The vibrant use of color and warm, stylistically varied score elevate the retro aesthetic beyond mere homage. It’s a touching and occasionally insightful depiction of what it’s like to live with anxiety and depression.

@Primarina Agreed. I'm glad Liar Princess did well enough to get a sort of sequel. The genre shift seems like it might be a good fit for them, too.

Just released in November 2021, these remakes of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl don't offer anything very different to the originals, but that suits many players just fine. Pokémon Legends: Arceus cements itself as an ambitious turning point for the franchise in a number of ways and serves as Game Freak’s strongest argument for Pokémon’s relevance in ages. There’s a clear love for the franchise’s history embedded deep in Arceus’ DNA. The game never obsesses over the past, though. In fact, Arceus usually shows its love for Pokémon by breaking the mold repeatedly. It defies fan skepticism to deliver a truly rare thing: an ambitious Pokémon game that realizes so many players’ dreams of bringing everyone’s favorite pocket-sized monsters to life in an open world.—Charlie Wacholz

This collection brings together three of Mario’s most influential 3D adventures: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Not every element stands up in 2020, so you might find yourself frustrated with 64’s relic of a camera, or the awkward controls of Sunshine’s water pack. But for the most part, each game in Super Mario 3D All-Stars remains fun, and playing through them today is a great way to see how Nintendo’s design philosophy has changed over the years. You’ll never look at Super Mario Odyssey the same way again.

Slaughtering tons of dudes has never felt so morally appropriate before. Ape Out makes a statement about animal abuse by focusing on a gorilla lab subject’s violent escape from captivity. It has the mechanical precision and deceptively deep game loop of a classic arcade game, but with a gorgeous aesthetic based on Saul Bass art and jazz percussion. Levels are packaged as if they’re tracks on old LPs, and the whole game looks like the cover to Miles Davis’s greatest hits come to life. It looks and sounds amazing, feels good to play, and has a just and socially relevant message, to boot.

Discover both sides of handcrafted stages in Yoshi’s Crafted World for Nintendo Switch.

Playing Doom on the Nintendo Switch also rules. Sure, it's a little compromised compared to the versions you might play on the PS4, Xbox One or a decently spec'd PC...

The Switch’s relatively inferior performance won’t be as big a deal if you typically play lightweight games like Minecraft and Stardew Valley, and again, Nintendo titles look and run especially great on the system. But if you’re looking for the best way to play the likes of The Witcher, Apex Legends or Doom on the go, you’re better off with the Steam Deck.

Zelda-like adventure game, Tunic, is the 'break game' you need from all those behemoth 80+ hour titles out there.

Hyrule is in danger again, and Link must save it. That's been the theme for nearly every Legend of Zelda game, and it's still the case in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The series' basic premise and Link/Zelda/Ganon dynamic are present, but nearly everything else is different. The classic Zelda dungeon-exploration structure is replaced by a huge open world that's filled with destructible weapons, monsters, puzzles, and quests. Breath of the Wild's scope is one previously unseen in the Zelda series, and Nintendo executes the adventure-filled world with aplomb.

I don't see anyway this could have not fulfill what it was suppose to, so...

I'd love to get the Ezio Collection since I've never played that bunch of AC games, but I'm put off of the download size...even for physical. Otherwise, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Advance Wars 1+2 are on my radar. Potentially Triangle Strategy too if it reviews well.

Up to four people can play Kirby Star Allies at a time, so this is an excellent game for the entire family to play together. Control Kirby and use friend hearts to charm foes, and they'll fight alongside you, giving you access to their own unique Copy abilities too.

It features the same barrel-blasting, mine-cart racing, banana-collecting gameplay as before — but now, you can play it anywhere.

Catch, survey and research wild Pokémon to create and complete the Sinnoh region’s first Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Nintendo Switch Pro Listing Said to Go Live on June 4, Price Expected to Be EUR 399

Not A Good Match For: People who hate shoot-’em-ups and tough boss battles (Undertale’s combat system has elements of both), those who aren’t fond of reading dialogue, haters of lo-fi pixel art.

When Nintendo first released a Nintendo Sports game for the Wii, it was a huge hit for parties. Now all the games are coming back on Switch, along with some new ones and with an online multiplayer option. Bowling, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and more, enjoy your favorite sports at home or on the go.

Why should you buy it? Some are suggesting that Hollow Knight is Dark Souls for beginners. But it's really a Dark Souls with stunning hand-painted aesthetics and a color palette to make you cry, and a stunning orchestral soundtrack that you just want to bathe in. It's one of our best Switch games for a reason folks. In true Metroidvania style, you'll be exploring a labyrinth of underground areas each more distinct than the last, and all filled with strange creatures to fight, and bizarre bugs to befriend. (Yes, really.) As you progress you gain new abilities, grow in power, and more devoted to uncovering all of Hollow Knight's secrets. One of the greatest best Switch games to date.

Kirby Super Star is the perfect Kirby game. Or rather, it’s nine perfect Kirby games. Instead of being a singular, contained adventure, Super Star has multiple game types, story campaigns, and multiplayer modes. They can play through a remake of the first game, take on the villain known as Marx, battle against Meta Knight, or just race King Dedede to eat some food.

Dynasty Warriors, with its endless procession of idiot enemy fodder whose only goal is to give your attack button a workout, is certainly divisive. But whatever your stance on the series is, there's no denying that Koei Tecmo's spin-offs, which include the Zelda-inspired Hyrule Warriors, show that the series' button-mashing formula still has room for experimentation. Dragon Quest Heroes heroes was a surprisingly delightful take on the musou genre, taking the series' classic RPG framework and dressing it around real-time action combat and monster collection. This combo will include the entire first game along with its sequel, meaning you'll get to spend hundreds of hours slicing through slimes at home or on the go.

In March 2001, Nintendo introduced the Game Boy Advance, the first major technological upgrade in the Game Boy line. Nintendo later released two revised models of the Game Boy Advance, the Game Boy Advance SP and the Game Boy Micro in 2003 and 2005, respectively. The Game Boy Advance SP features a smaller clamshell design, and introduced a built-in screen light and rechargeable battery which became standard features for future Nintendo handhelds. The Game Boy Micro is an even smaller variant with interchangeable designer faceplates. Unlike the previous models, the Micro lacks Game Boy/Game Boy Color backwards compatibility and e-Reader support. As of June 30, 2010, the three Game Boy Advance models have sold 81.51 million units worldwide.[6]

Pretty cheap for Bastion. If these were for US I might actually double dip to play that masterpiece again since its been quite awhile since I played it when it came out.
