Lonestar Cheeseburger Eating Contest

The 10th Annual Cheeseburger Eating Contest happens at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 at the Lonestar Cheeseburger food trailer located at 333 W. Beauregard Ave. in San Angelo. Anyone can enter for free, but you have to enter before you show up. The winner is the person who can eat the most cheeseburgers in 5 minutes. Cheeseburgers are provided as part of the $25 entry fee for contestants. It costs nothing to be a spectator.

The winner — the contestant who eats the most cheeseburgers within the allotted time — wins $1,000. There are no prizes for the runners up.

The burger trailer will be open and free beer from a keg will be served for the audience. Two spectators will win free burgers for the remainder of 2022. The winner will be selected in a random drawing and you must register and be present to win.

For the past two years, YouTube star Joel Hansen has won the contest handily. Hansen has won over 450 food challenges during his career. He also holds the Guinness World Record for “Most Ice Cream Eaten in 30 Seconds.” The question is, will Hansen return to defend his title? Last year, Hansen gobbled 19 cheeseburgers in five minutes to win. Second place ate just 10.

To enter the contest, you must register in person at the Lonestar Cheeseburger food trailer located at the corner of S. Abe St. and W. Beauregard Ave. sometime before the contest. The deadline for registration is one hour prior, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, and there are only 15 contestant slots offered on a first come, first served basis. For those living outside of the San Angelo area, you can call Lonestar Cheeseburger to announce your intention to travel to San Angelo and register. This way staff will make sure a spot is held open for you.

For more information, call the burger trailer at (325) 500-8408.
