Fort Concho Speakers' Series: 150th Anniversary of the Red River Wars

The Fort Concho Speaker Series will return this year from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday this September.

Each presentation will take place in the Fort Concho Commissary, 702 Burgess St. Admission is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunches.

This year’s lineup of topics and speakers includes:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 4: “Old Homes of San Angelo, Part 2” by Lisa Mahler, local historian.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11: “Frontier Army Chaplains” by Christopher Roque, Retired Captain of Texas Lutheran University Police Department, Vicar Calvary Episcopal Church, Menard.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 18: “150th Anniversary of the Red River Wars” by Sarah Thieme, education coordinator, Fort Concho.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 25: “The Lost War for Texas: The True Story of Texas’ First Revolution of 1811” by James Aalan Bernsen, author.
