Angelo State Planetarium Full-Dome Astronomy Shows
The Angelo State University Planetarium will present two full-dome public astronomy shows during its fall 2018 schedule beginning Thursday, Sept. 6, in the ASU Vincent Building, 2333 Vanderventer St.
Each Thursday from Sept. 6 through Nov. 15, “First and Farthest” will run at 7 p.m. and “Faster Than Light: The Dream of Interstellar Flight” will run at 8 p.m. All the shows are open to the public with admission prices of $3 for adults and $2 for children, active military and senior citizens. ASU students, faculty and staff are admitted free.
From the first rockets to the first man on the moon, “First and Farthest” celebrates humanity’s great accomplishments in the Space Race. This show will bring back memories for those who have experienced the Space Race, and will inspire new generations to keep exploring our universe.
“Faster Than Light: the Dream of Interstellar Flight” will dazzle audiences with virtual rides aboard spacecraft of the future. The craft are based on new technologies designed to achieve ultra-high speeds, using exotic next-generation rocket fuels and breakthrough concepts in physics. The show is narrated by award-winning actor Sean Bean and won the Director’s Award at the 2017 Fulldome Festival Brno at the Brno Observatory in the Czech Republic.
