The Angelo State University Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers will present their 2021 Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 2, at Southland Baptist Church, 4300 Meadow Creek Trail.
Titled "Sing We All Noel," the concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The ASU choirs will perform a selection of historical and contemporary Christmas songs, and will also lead the audience in several popular carols throughout the evening.
"Personent Hodie" - the world premiere of James Knox's arrangement of this 12th century Christmas carol that was commissioned by ASU "Lo, How a Rose/The Rose" - featuring student soloist Christina Parra of Abilene Chamber Singers
"Yo me soy la morenica" from "Villancicos de Navidad" - featuring student soloists Miranda Watson of Tyler, Nathan Miller of San Angelo and Zach Douglas of Coppell "African Noel" - a traditional African carol Concert Chorale
"A King is Born" - featuring student soloist Amanda Golka of Cedar Park "See Amid the Winter's Snow" - arranged by Dan Forrest "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - featuring student soloist Rachel Bickers of Wylie The choirs will be accompanied on piano by Hunter Mabery, ASU staff accompanist, and on organ by Rhonda Partusch, Southland Baptist Church organist. They will also be accompanied on several numbers by the ASU Brass Quintet, ASU Percussionists, Dr. Trent Shuey, assistant director of bands, on percussion, and Dr. Fagner Rocha, director of orchestra, on guitar.
The 35-member Concert Chorale and 12-member Chamber Singers include students from academic departments across campus. They are directed by Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities.
