Music Professor & Guest Clarinet Recital
Dr. Timothy Bonenfant of the Angelo State University music faculty will present his first public clarinet recital of the fall 2019 semester on Friday, Sept. 13, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public. Bonenfant will be joined by Minnesota-based musician Alex Hecker for a program of clarinet duos, including:
- “Claro” by Theo Loevendie
- “Ludus Minor” by Paul Hindemith
- “Dark Embers” by Theresa Martin
- “Susurrus” by Katherine Bergman
- “Shevet Achim” (“Brothers Dwell”) by Meira Wareshauer
- “Black” by Marc Mellits
A professor of music, Bonenfant directs ASU’s Single-Reeds Studio and performs with two fellow ASU music faculty as The Mesquite Trio. He has performed with the Nevada Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic and San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also accompanied such notable performers as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Randy Newman, Dudley Moore, Bobby Shew, the Village People and the Moody Blues.
Hecker pursues music with the goal of making music intersectionally inclusive through ethical artistry. She has performed throughout the Midwest with the Minnesota Ballet Orchestra, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed at various contemporary music festivals, including the Nief-Norf Summer Festival, Music by Women Festival and Waterloo Regions Contemporary Music Sessions. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clarinet performance from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
