Angelo State University’s Jazz Ensemble Concert
Angelo State University’s Jazz Ensemble will present its annual fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the ASU Auditorium located inside the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public. The ASU Jazz Ensemble is comprised of ASU student musicians and is directed by Dr. Timothy Bonenfant, professor of music.
The musical program will include “Count Bubba” by Gordon Goodwin, featuring soloists Mario Cardenas on tenor sax, Seth Myers on trombone and Logan Lucas on trumpet; “Laura” by Johnny Mercer and David Raksin, featuring Will DeForest on trumpet and Matt Bowers on trombone; “Lady,
Your Cow’s On Fire” by Tom Kubis, featuring Andrew Perez on trombone and LaMont Allen on alto sax; “Nica’s Dream” by Horace Silver, featuring Lucas on trumpet and Allen on alto sax; and “Another Life” by Pat Metheny, featuring Riley Jarabek on trumpet.
Following a brief intermission, the ensemble will perform “Sweet Georgia Upside Down” by Phil Kelly, featuring Joe Torres on trumpet; “Geraldine” by Russell Ferrante, featuring Sean Curry on alto sax and John Talley on piano; “Trouble in Paradise” as arranged by Bonenfant, featuring Kassie Odie on vocals and Curry on alto sax; “Overjoyed” by Stevie Wonder, featuring Mario Martinez on tenor sax; and “Slam” by Marcus Miller, featuring Curry on alto sax.
