Police Cruiser Destroyed During Leisurely Afternoon Drive Home

SAN ANGELO, TX — After a long day on the job, a San Angelo police officer was driving home in a police cruiser when tragedy struck. Police routinely drive their work vehicle home as it provides visibility of law enforcement within San Angelo’s neighborhoods.

According to the investigating officer and not the officer involved, a driver of a Toyota Camry failed to yield the right of way to the policeman and a collision ensued.

The crash happened at the intersection of Chatterton and Forest Trail at around 5:30 p.m. Police gave us the conclusion of the initial investigation, however, police had not yet issued any citation. No one was hurt seriously enough to be transported by ambulance from the crash scene. Watch:

The Supreme Court of The United States of America has rules that police have no duty to protect anyone, qualified immunity means they can even harm you (physically, constitutionally, or monetarily) and you have little recourse.

Luckily murdering cops like Amber Guyger and Derek Chauvin have been successfully prosecuted and sent to prison. Not until qualified immunity is removed and lawsuits can be directed at the police that murder, maim and violate rights will we ever have police actually be held accountable on the scale that they need to be. We also need a third party independent investigatory body made up of citizens that have no ties to police to investigate police misconduct and complaints, when police investigate themselves they will always be on the side of the people they have to work with everyday, just because of fear of retaliation.

I thought republicans were all about "accountability"? Or is that just something else that republicans only apply to people they don't like?

I am not necessarily "anti-cop", I just want them held accountable and face consequences for their actions, which republicans claim to be all for, but only ever apply it to the people they don't like. 

I just hope no one here (or a family member of theirs) has to go through what I have seen multiple other people go through when a cop has a bad day or decides he doesn't like you, or take it as a personal insult when you assert your rights (something else republicans claim to be for). They can ruin your entire life with just the swipe of a pen with no accountability or oversight if they lie, manipulate or "misinterpret" the law. Citizens are expected to know the law inside and out "ignorance of the law is no excuse" and if you don't you go to prison, but if a cop just thinks he is right about a law and he is wrong and violates it qualified immunity will protect them. It's a system that will punish a citizen no matter what, even if they did nothing wrong whatsoever. Especially in TEXAS, where there is a death penalty and people have been EXECUTED who were later found completely innocent.

I have seen enough people that have and been railroaded into deals and lost their houses and cars and jobs and families because the cop decided to screw them over. It happens everyday in America, you are just blind to it because it hasn't happened directly to you or someone in your family. You want to hold people up as heros because you think it will help you politically. Republicans don't like cops anyway, just look at what you people did to them on january 6th.

I am talking about people who were found innocent and they were kept in jail without bail. They lost their houses and cars because they couldn't pay for them while in jail on BS charges.

Also, you are basically admitting that right wing "news" doesn't report on the bad things cops do.

Do you really think that cops NEVER do wrong? Do you live in a world where cops never screw up and make the wrong judgement call? Or are you just hoping that by treating these particular public servants nicely, while disparaging all of the other ones, that they will help you in your time of need instead of shooting you in the street like they do to citizens everyday in America? Your head is in the sand and you just don't want to know what the true nature of policing is in this country.

The only  reason people are denied bail is if they have a prior record, or are charged with a serious crime. Not in many democrat run cities of course, they have no cash bail and release known criminals back onto the streets where they just commit more crime ;)

You can look at the pictures of the accident and see the civilian hit the police car and the civilian had either a yield or stop sign.  Something this small gets you radicals just screaming.  Radical stupidity is one of the main reasons this country is divided.  Until people stop listening to your stupidity we will continue to fail as a country.

I didn't say that's not what happened, I am just saying that cops will always blame someone else for anything they do wrong, and with police investigating themselves they will get away with it. Don't trust things just because cops frame it a certain way. He could have been speeding for example.

Will the cop be required to take a drug test? I know if I were wreck my work truck I would have to take a drug test. I’m guessing the standard of accountability is lower for law enforcement.

And I meant that the border "issues" are a republican boogyman (not to say they don't exist at all, but they are inflated and used as a political tool by republicans), the proof of this is that trump's surge in 2019 was very quiet and not reported on by republicans, and no mention of the fact that this current "surge" started under trump.

There have been at least two "reports" of caravans in the past that I can remember, one earlier this year and one when trump was president, neither one ever showed up.

Besides, what are you worried about? Abbott said he would take care of it right?
