The U.S. Border Patrol Office is Looking for New Recruits

DEL RIO, TX – The U.S. Border Patrol office in Del Rio is looking for men and women who are  interested in joining their organization. During the 2016 fiscal year the Border Patrol office employed 1,439 of their total 19,828  Border Patrol officers. Their office will be hosting an open house on May 13th to answer any questions prospective recruits may have.

The event will be held from 9 to 4 p.m. at the Sector Headquarters located at 2401 Dodson Avenue in Del Rio, Texas. During this time, possible recruits will be able to view the application and apply online. Interested recruits will have the chance to speak with experts and active border patrol agents  to answer any questions they may have. Recruiters highly recommend meeting face to face with the staff and other recruits.

The Del Rio Sector has stations in Eagle Pass, Carrizo Springs, Comstock, Del Rio, Brackettville, Uvalde, Rocksprings, and San Angelo.

Starting salary for border patrol agents averages $52,583 per year. Salaries can vary based on experience and education. Furthermore, Agents have the opportunity to reach $97,486 after 4 years.

There are a few requirements that new recruits must fulfill in order to be eligible to apply:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 of the last 5 years (military exception)
  • Be eligible to carry a firearm
  • Be referred for selection prior to your 40th birthday (waivers available for veteran’s preference or those that have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement position)
