Brady Police Lose Loyal Retired K-9 Cara

BRADY, TX - The Brady Police Department lost "a trusted and loyal officer" yesterday evening when retired Police K-9 "Cara" passed away.

According to the Brady PD, Cara, a 14-year-old German Shepherd, served beside her partner, Captain Lupe Carrizales, for over 10 years with distinction and honor.

"In 2014, Cara was retired and made the transition from officer to a loving member of the Carrizales family until her passing last evening," said Brady Police. "There is no way to measure how much of an impact Cara had on this agency and our mission to serve and protect this community. She was loyal, always ready to assist us in our mission and would have gladly traded her life for any officer or citizen placed in harms way."

Brady Police concluded, "We will miss you Cara. Thank you for your love, service and dedication. Now rest easy...you have done your duty and we will take it from here."

LIVE! offers our condolences to the Carrizales family and Brady Police Department.
