Trial for Murder of Abilene Police Officer Starts Tomorrow

CALLAHAN COUNTY, TX - On Aug. 31, 2015, the body of an Abilene police officer was found in his home, and the people responsible for his murder will face a trial by jury beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Callahan County.

Violet and Philip Walter have been charged with the murder of Officer Don Allen. Four days after the murder, the coupled was arrested on Sept. 3, 2015.

According to reports, “Police said [the officer] was strangled.”

The arrest of the Walters was executed due to a surveillance video from the Wild Bill’s Pawn Shop. The video showed the Walters pawning items that were reportedly taken from Allen’s house.

“Police say the Walters pawned a few PlayStation 4 games, and a bracelet that belonged to Sarah Waters, Allen’s fiancé. Investigators found the games pawned by the Walters were recently played on Don Allen’s PlayStation 4,” said a local news source.

Local news sources also stated, “In January, a judge reduced Violet Walter's bonds from $600,000 to $75,000, and she was released from jail.”

After her being released from jail, Violet’s husband, Philip, requested for his bond to be reduced, but he was denied. Philip has been held at the Taylor County Jail since.
