CBP: 73 Subjects Apprehended in a Long Line Crossing Border Near Comstock

 

Comstock – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Comstock Station, with the assistance of CBP Office of Air and Marine agents, apprehend a group of 73 subjects entering the U.S. illegally on a ranch near Comstock on May 7.

At approximately 9 a.m. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Comstock Border Patrol Station, while performing sign cutting operations, observed foot sign of a large group making their way futher into the U.S. Agents tracked the foot sign for approximately half an hour before encountering a group of subjects.  CBP Office of Air and Marine agents were contacted to provide an aerial search of the area, resulting in a total of 73 subjects apphrehended.

“Working hand-in-hand with other agencies makes the mission of protecting our nation’s borders more effective and efficient,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch. “The coordination of CBP Office of Air and Marine agents and Border Patrol agents was a great asset in locating and accounting for all 73 subjects.”

Additional agents were dispatched to the area to provide assistance. CBP Office of Air and Marine agents provided aerial surveillance and Border Patrol agents walked the group toward waiting transportation vehicles. All subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Comstock Border Patrol Station and processed according to CBP guidelines.

This was great work by everyone involved but the end result was probably taking names and birth dates so they could give them health care cards, food stamps and bus tickets with the next step being citizenship.
