Lady Hawks Clinch District Crown over Ballinger
WALL, TX— In a whirlwind of game the Wall Lady Hawks clinch the District 4-3A Championship.
The Lady Hawks secured the championship by defeating the Ballinger Lady Bearcats 9-5.
The West Texas wind and dust was brutal today and set both teams up for a real battle.
The Lady Hawks trailed 4-0 in the first inning. But, as the game progressed, they fought their way back in.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Hawks tacked on insurance runs and led 9-5. The Bearcats could not claw their way back in the top of the seventh inning.
Rylee Morales, Ashlynn Box, Ashley Dusek, Lexi Valles, Kenzee Smith and Kandace Aguilar each tallied single hits for the Lady Hawks.
Aguilar, Smith and Valles were tied for the team lead in RBIs with two each.
Smith started in the circle but only with two-thirds of an inning. Izzy Vera came in and shut the door on Ballinger by allowing one run across six-and-a-third innings.
This victory puts Wall at 19-4-1 overall and 8-0 in District 4-3A with Ballinger two games behind at 6-2. Wall holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with the season sweep of Ballinger, giving them the district crown.
