Central Ace Limon Bolsters Sul Ross with Verbal Commitment

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The ace pitcher for the Central Bobcats has announced his collegiate commitment, and he's staying pretty close to home.

Jonathan Limon verbally commited to play baseball for Division III outfit the Sul Ross State Loboes, in Alpine, TX, in 2019, Mike Limon, Jonathan's father, told San Angelo Live.

The Loboes play in the 13-team American Southwest Conference that includes Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University in Abilene, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and Howard Payne University in Brownwood. Sul Ross is currently second in the conference with an 11-4 conference record and a 17-11 record overall. The 11 conference wins by the Loboes is already a four-game improvement from their seven conference wins in 2017.

Limon, a three-year varsity pitcher, has seen the accolades pour in since he first stepped on the field in 2016 as a varsity player. During his sophomore season against Odessa High, the southpaw became the first sophomore in the history of Central Bobcat baseball to throw a no-hitter in Central's 2-0 win over the Bronchos.

This season, Limon has been crucial to Central's playoff push with a 4-1 record for the Bobcats in seven starts with a 1.55 ERA and 62 strikeouts.

The Bobcats currently sit in second, tied with the Belton Tigers, two games back of Waco Midway in District 8-6A.

Limon threw 14 of his punchouts in his career-day against Killeen Ellison to help the Bobcats to a 6-1 win.

The senior last appeared, and started, for the Bobcats in their 10-9 walkoff win over Copperas Cove at Donsky Field this past Tuesday. Limon, however, would go just two-and-a-third innings in the start with five strikeouts, six runs allowed and his third no-decision this season.

The Bobcats (11-15, 5-2) travel to square off with Copperas Cove on Friday, April 6, in the series finale between the two-teams.
