No. 4 Hawks Split Friday Doubleheader in Snyder

SNYDER, TX-- The fourth-ranked Wall Hawks routed Idalou 15-2 before falling 8-3 to Shallowater at the Snyder Tournament on Friday.

In their blowout of Idalou, the Hawks scored their 15 runs from the second to the fourth inning. The game only lasted four innings due to the run-rule.

Junior Gage Weishuhn went 3-for-3 at the plate in the game, scoring three runs and driving in one. Caleb Heuertz, Mitchell Horton and Will Brown each tallied two hits. Heuertz and Horton put up three RBIs apiece.

Mark Nikolauk was dominant on the mound for the Hawks by allowing just two runs on one hit and three strikeouts in four innings of work to secure the win.

The Hawks were tied with Shallowater going in to the top of the seventh inning before the Mustangs exploded for five runs to ultimately win the game.

Weishuhn, Brock Rosenquist and Dryden Virden each put up two hits for the Hawks.

Wall used five pitchers in the game, including four in the final frame. Baylor Halfmann started the game for Wall and went six full innings allowing five hits, three runs and three strikeouts but was not charged with the loss. Mitchell Horton came on for Halfmann and threw nine pitches in the seventh where he allowed three runs on three hits for the losing decision.

The Hawks are now 11-3-1 in 2018.
