Brownwood Head Coach, AD Moving on to New Challenge

BROWNWOOD, TX-- Brownwood Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Kyle Maxfield has announced he is resigning to take the same position at Bangs, according to the Brownwood Bulletin.

Maxfield finished his second season with the Lions in 2017 and compiled a 12-9 record over his two years at the helm.

Bangs went 0-10 this past season and had not had a winning season since 2013 when they went 9-4 under current Ballinger Head Coach Chuck Lipsey.

Maxfield is entering his 20th season as a head coach.

The new man in Bangs is well known for turning around 3A program Shallowater. During his time in the plains of the panhandle Maxfield led the Mustangs to seven straight playoff berths from 2009 to 2015 and four straight district titles from 2012 to 2015. Prior to Maxfield's arrival in 2009, Shallowater had not won a district title since 2004 and had not made the playoffs since 2006.

Bangs was announced in District 4-3A Division 2 with area teams Ballinger, Grape Creek and TLCA when the UIL released their biennial realignment last Thursday.
