McIvor and Co. Too Much for Frenship
WOLFFORTH, TX—Behind the stellar play of Junior Quarterback Maverick McIvor and lights-out defense, the Central Bobcats defeated Wolfforth Frenship 49-14 on the road Friday night.
“I thought we played really well tonight,” said San Angelo Central Head Coach Brent Davis after the win. “I’m really proud of our guys.”
McIvor threw for three touchdowns and rushed for one in a first half that saw the Bobcats jump out to a 28-0 lead by the end of the first half. It was also a night where fans welcomed back Senior Receiver Jesse Scott Jr., who missed the Midland Lee game a week ago due to injury. On Scott’s first reception Friday night, the former Lake View Chief hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to put Central up 14-0 with 8:22 left in the half. Scott’s second catch would mirror his first as a 15-yard touchdown to put the Bobcats up 21-0 with just over five minutes left to play in the first half. The senior finished the night with four catches for 66-yards and a pair of scores.
“It was an amazing feeling,” said a jubilated Scott after the game. “I didn’t think I was going to score on the first catch.”
