National Weather Service says Freezing Rain Possible Tonight

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Four days after Punxsutawney Phil declared there would be six more weeks of winter, San Angelo is slated to get another batch of wintry weather.

The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued a Special Weather Statement on Tuesday saying the Concho Valley could see a freezing drizzle tonight into Wednesday morning.

"An approaching disturbance from the west combined with a recent cold frontal Passage will bring a possibility for freezing rain and drizzle," the statement said. "This could result in some slick spots, mainly on elevated surfaces such as overpasses and bridges."

The temperatures are expected to dip below freezing late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

"At this point, only minor accumulations of ice are expected," the NWS said. "However, continue to monitor future National Weather Service forecasts as additional updates will be possible."

The NWS advises residents to take precautionary measures to protect their plants, pets and pipes.
