Power Outage Caused by Transmission Line Issue; Some Power Being Restored

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Fred Hernandez with AEP Texas said they are having problems with transmission lines and that's affecting the Jackson St. and South Angelo substations.

Hernandez said AEP had 6,051 customers without power, but power is being restored to some customers now. Near Kansas Ave. and YMCA Dr. on the southwest side, we observed fire department personnel responding to a fire on a power line. Flames could be seen atop a transmission line at a power line there just before 3 p.m.

There are also unconfirmed reports of a gas leak near Johnson St. and Knickerbocker Rd. that may or may not be related.

San Angelo Police are asking residents to call AEP directly and not call 911 to report power outages.
