Introducing the San Angelo Clubhouse

SAN ANGELO, TX — Today the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, San Angelo Concho Cadre, Mayor Brenda Gunter and City Councilman Harry Thomas gathered at a new business, San Angelo Clubhouse, 404 S. Irving St., for a Chamber ribbon cutting.

The San Angelo Clubhouse is a new organization that provides adults living with a mental health diagnosis a place to spend the day, build relationships, receive assistance with personal goals, and learn vocational and life skills that can enrich their lives and our community.  The San Angelo Clubhouse is one of five such organizations in the state.

Membership to the Clubhouse is free.  To be eligible, you must have a mental health diagnosis, be at least 18 years of age, follow a treatment plan and not be a danger to yourself or others.  They provide a $1 lunch for members that the members participate in every facet of preparing, cleaning and cashiering.

The building they have chosen to house the organization is the newly renovated riverfront property. It was formerly a Mexican food restaurant located right on the river bank of the Concho River, across from the picturesque Bosque Park. In the location they have computers, circuit machines for creating t-shirts and to enable the members to learn skills that they can take onto jobs in the private or public sector.  The organization also boasts a temporary part-time job program to encourage businesses to assume a participative hand in the enhancement in their members lives. Clubhouse will soon be looking for companies that will work with them to assist their members in more real life on the job training.

If you are interested in your business participating in their temporary jobs program, becoming a member, or more you can contact them at (325) 617-7884, [email protected], or their Facebook page.
