San Angelo Driver License Office to Close for Renovations

SAN ANGELO, TX - On March 17, 2017, the Texas Department of Public Safety will temporarily close the San Angelo Driver License Office for renovations, said a press release this week.

"The revamped San Angelo office will feature upgrades designed to enhance customer flow and efficiency," said the press release. "The office is expected to reopen to the public the second week of April."

Throughout the renovation period, DPS wants to remind customers that many Texans can avoid the office completely by going online to www.Texas.gov to renew their license, identification card or change their address. Customers can also renew by phone at 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same, and the fees are the same regardless of the method used to renew.

DPS also noted, "Customers can renew their card early at any time within one year of the expiration date and choose a convenient time that fits their schedule."

If a customer must visit a driver license office, however, DPS is encouraging customers in the area to visit the following locations:

  • Sonora Driver License Office at 102 N. Water Avenue (County Courthouse), Sonora, Texas 76950
  • Ozona Driver License Office at 1533 Monterrey Dr., Ozona, Texas 76825
  • Brady Driver License Office at 306 W. Lockhart St., Brady, Texas 76825
  • Big Spring Driver License Office at 5725 IH-20 West, Big Spring, Texas 79720
  • Midland Driver License Office at 2405 S. Loop 250 West, Midland, Texas 76825

Thank you for this article, my son needed his license renewed, and I might have waited longer if I hadn't seen this article. I was wondering if the Ballinger office is closed, since it isn't on your list of offices, and it's closer than those mentioned.
