Snow Falls in San Angelo!

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Just before 8 p.m. this evening, rainfall turned to snowflakes. As of 5 p.m., the National Weather Service of San Angelo tweeted on Twitter that an off-duty NWS employee reported light snow south of San Angelo in Christoval. About 40 minutes ago, the NWS reported a mixture of snow with rain at the NWS office on the south side of San Angelo. 

A few moments ago, the NWS tweeted, "Snowing heavier across San Angelo & some brief accumulation is possible on grassy areas. Temps staying above freezing on roads."

Since 2 p.m., the temperature in San Angelo started falling from the high of 46 degrees Fahrenheit. By 7:30 p.m., temps in the area fell to 38 degrees.

A NWS employee said San Angelo temps are expected to remain above freezing, so there should not be hazardous road conditions. However, NWS encourages people to use caution when on the roads.

The NWS employee added that there is a heavier concentration of snow in the northern parts of town, and we should expect to see the white substance for a while longer tonight.

For tomorrow, the sun will return with a high of 57 and a low in the 30s. There is no rain or snow in the forecast.

Overall, the record low for Jan. 27 in San Angelo is 19 degrees, and the average low is 30.
