SAPD's Buckle Down & Stay Strapped In Campaign Yields Positive Results

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – SAPD’s Buckle Down & Stay Strapped In yielded high results after surveyors complete the first month of observations. According to the data collection, seat belt use rate in San Angelo is at 93.6 percent.

This places the city at 2.9 percent higher than the state average, which sits at 90.7 percent. The percentage has also increased 0.5 percent higher than the data recorded in October when the baseline was established at 93.1 percent.

The data revealed the following information:

  • Women – 95.2%
  • Men – 91.8%
  • Highest Age Group for Belt Use: 60 +
  • Lowest Age Group for Belt Use: < 24
  • Highest Vehicle for Belt Use: Van
  • Lowest Vehicle for Belt Use: Passenger Car

The campaign will continue for an entire year and was initiated to increase seat belt usage that can reduce injuries, and ultimately save lives of drivers and passengers.
