Angelo State Wind Ensemble Concert Features Music by American Composers

 

SAN ANGELO, TX- A press release from Angelo State University announced that the university's Wind Ensemble will present a concert on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the University Auditorium, inside the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Ave. N

The concert is titled “An American Ride”. The press release stated, “The concert will feature music by American composers. The program will include 'An American Statute' by Morton Gould, 'Chorale and Alleluia' by Howard Hanson, 'Concord' by Clare Grundman, Ronald Lo Presti’s 'Elegy for a Young American,' 'Sabre and Spurs' by John Phillip Sousa and 'Ride' by Samuel R. Hazo."

Jonny Priano’s will also be performing “Psalm 23”, arranged by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands and assistant professor of music.

The press release concluded, “The Wind Ensemble is one of the premier instrumental performing ensembles at ASU and is directed by Alvis.”
