Art Show and Sale: 'It's About Life & Art'

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Starting yesterday, the lobby of the Cactus Hotel, located at 36 E. Twohig, was the setting for numerous works of art up for sale with partial proceeds to benefit a local non-profit organization.

 Countless mediums were represented including, oil, acrylic, jewelry, sculptures, lithographs, photography and more. Many local artists had their works on display including Raul Ruiz who had an official unveiling ceremony of a new bronze piece that afternoon.

Gina Councilman, Executive Director of HOSA, said, "The hospice program originated with the Junior League of San Angelo in 1982. Our dedicated healthcare professionals teach the patient and their family what to expect as their disease progresses in a manner to ease the anxiety associated with this stage of life. Our staff is available 24 hours a day-365 days a year, and are there to develop and implement a plan of care, individualized, for each patient, and to meet the family's needs."

Hospice of San Angelo has been providing a special concept of care for San Angelo and the surrounding areas for those with life limiting illnesses in the comfort of their own home and in the company of family and friends for over 25 years.

Initially, family members of patients with terminal illness were afforded temporary lodging at the St Johns Hospital Campus. Councilman added, "Now we have a contract with Baptist Memorial." 

For this weekend's fundraiser, Councilman concluded, "The event will also run Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., and we just [want] to encourage everyone to come out and support a good cause. It's our first event and we're hoping to make it an annual one."
