Governor Greg Abbott Appears for Book Signing Event in San Angelo

Governor Greg Abbott visited San Angelo today for a book signing event at Hasting’s Entertainment at 4238 Sunset Dr.

The Governor came to San Angelo as part of his book tour for “Broken But Unbowed,”  and got a chance to meet the constituents who supported him by purchasing the book.

One of those constituents was a member of the San Angelo Police Department who was working security at the event. He mentioned that it was by complete chance that he signed up for the security job, and had no idea it was going to be for Governor Abbott.

The line at Hastings stretched from one side to the other with people waiting anxiously to meet their Governor.

Breanna Wood, a student in attendance, came to show her support.

“I like the Governor and all of his polices that he has made so far,” she said. Wood added that she was really excited to meet him given how important governors are to their constituency for any state across the nation.

Michael Shorter, an employee at Hastings, got his chance to meet and greet with the Governor while on shift.

“Being a conservative, I like his politics in general, and just the way he has voted on a lot of [policies] in the past,” said Shorter. He also mentioned that he has followed the Governor’s career since he was the Attorney General for Texas.

Shorter added that he hopes to learn more about Abbott’s commitment to the values shown in the U.S. Constitution, for he considers himself a fundamentalist.

John Wittman, press manager for the tour, explained this is the 19th city tour across Texas, which started with Abilene this morning and stopped today with San Angelo. The tour will continue with Amarillo, Lubbock, and Midland tomorrow.

“On average, I would say close to 200 people attended each event,” Wittman said. “It’s been a really great turnout so far.”

Being the Governor's first book, Wittman explained this is a great opportunity to show he wrote the book, and also to present his message of addressing the issues facing Texas and the nation.

Abbott will be attending other book signings here in the next few days. A full list of times and locations can be found at https://www.gregabbott.com/broken-but-unbowed-texas-book-tour/.
