La Kumbia Girls to Host Refreshing Lemonade Stand

On Saturday, May 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the La Kumbia Girls will be putting together a lemonade and baked goods stand at Rivas & Son Paint & Body, 1402 S Bell St.

Raymond Rivas, the owner of Rivas & Son Paint & Body, put this event together. His three daughters, Madison, Asia and Khloe, will be the girls serving lemonade and baked goods.

Rivas explained that the purpose of the lemonade stand is geared toward teaching entrepreneurship to his three daughters. As an entrepreneur himself, he wants to teach his daughters what he has learned and how to run their own business.

“I am trying to pass on and teach my kids about the value of money and how to be their own boss," said Rivas. "Through this mini business, I am trying to continue the way of life as entrepreneurs.”

All of the profit made on Saturday will be donated to a charity of the girls choosing. No charity has been picked yet, but the girls are looking locally. They are debating between a cancer charity and the Humane Society in San Angelo.

For the days leading up to this entrepreneurship opportunity, a local radio station, Q99.5 has been doing public service announcements for the girls' lemonade stand. At the lemonade stand, the van will be parked in front of Rivas & Son Paint & Body. During the time of sales, t-shirts will also be given away from Q99.5.

People of San Angelo are encouraged to grab a cold glass of lemonade and a sweet treat from La Kumbia Girls. Not only do all proceeds go to a local charity of the girls' choosing, but people will be helping one father “pass on the value of business for [his] kids.”
