How to Get a Summer Tan Without the Sun

Many people are longing for the summer, as winter seems to drag on forever. The lack of sun and outdoor activity make it difficult to achieve a sun-kissed look. Visiting a tanning bed filled with UV bulbs has been popular over the years as a way of achieving the ‘perfect’ tan. But with growing health concerns about skin cancer, tanning beds are dwindling in popularity.

An alternative that has gained more attention over the years is the spray tan. A spray tan provides tanned skin without exposure to harmful UV rays. Tori Trowbridge at Posh Salon, 2507 Johnson Street, is offering a way to combat pale tones and be swimsuit ready in minutes with her new spray tan booth.

Trowbridge uses a Norvell Professional airbrush booth, equipped with a ventilation system that promotes an even application of bronzing formulas. A spray tan session usually takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes, depending upon what areas you want bronzed. Trowbridge’s prices range from $10-$40 depending on the look you need to achieve.

“Spray tan has come a long way," she said. "A lot of people are afraid it will turn you orange and leave your skin streaky, and that’s just incorrect. There are many different tones for different skin types, leaving behind a natural looking tan.”

Trowbridge will be accepting walk-ins as part of her grand opening today at Posh Salon.
