Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ has partnered with Angelo State University’s Public Relations Principles class to coordinate a Christmas Toy Drive and Giveaway that will help local San Angelo families who may be struggling financially this holiday season. A community toy giveaway will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 2:00 pm – to 5:00 pm to give away the toys that have been donated. The age range for the event is 2-8 year olds. The event will take place at the Belaire Elementary cafeteria, located at 700 Stephens, and will include refreshments, crafts, games, and Christmas Karaoke. Santa is also scheduled to make a special appearance.
Jackie Allen, Pastor of Miracle Temple, explains his desire for hosting the event, "We really wanted to give back to our local community and families this year. We wanted to show them they are loved and we care about them". This event is unique as it is being coordinated by Public Relations students from Angelo State University who are currently working through Angelo State University’s CONNECT! program. This program seeks to engage students, faculty, and staff on campus with the local, regional, national, and global communities to enhance student learning and better serve the San Angelo community. Dr. Rodriguez, professor of the class, stated, “This class project is beneficial to my students as it allows them to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a real world experience. This hands-on experience will allow them to develop the skills that are necessary in the profession they are pursuing while giving back to the community.” The Public Relations course is being offered through the Communication and Mass Media department.

Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ has served the community of San Angelo since its inception in 1999. The church has grown in numbers and in servitude since its establishment. The church now has about 50 members. This is the second year the church has held the Christmas Toy Drive and Giveaway. Through this event, the church hopes to impact the city in a positive manner.
