Three Alleged Hoodlums Arrested and Booked into Juvenile Justice Center

Three male juveniles were arrested Thursday morning after a lengthy investigation into multiple incidents of criminal mischief just north of Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Just before 8:00 a.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Era Street for the report of male juveniles spray-painting property.  The caller provided descriptions of the young men and their direction of travel.

San Angelo Police Officer D. Martin, who was patrolling nearby when the call came out, responded to the area and observed the suspects spray-painting graffiti.  Additional officers converged on the area and all three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Officers then canvassed the area and found several locations where cars, traffic signs, residential driveways, mailboxes, and the roadway itself were spay-painted with profanities and other markings.

Detectives with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Technicians also responded to investigate the incidents that, so far, have been located within the 700 to 1000 blocks of Era Street.  Police also spoke with two independent witnesses who said they observed the males spray-painting objects while they walked down the street.

In addition to the criminal mischief, Police are investigating the report of a nearby vehicle burglary that may be linked to these incidents.

Police have not been able to make contact with all the victims where the damage was located and they expect more reports to come in as people return home for the day.  If you discover damage to your property, please call 325-657-4315 to request an officer to come out and take a report.

The juveniles ages 14, 15 and 16, were charged with State Jail Felony Criminal Mischief and were transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.  Additional charges are pending.  This is an ongoing investigation.

Funny how everyone's forgiving of crime and making excuses for truly terrible people, but as soon as the vehicle they make $800 payments on gets vandalized, people lose their mind with fury and file charges. Which they SHOULD. Crime=crime, period. But the next time some drink kid plows into someone's property, it'll be back to "don't judge if you don't know!" Lol
In regard to the kids who spray painted the cars, I like the idea they should be made to repaint graffiti but it should be on fences or walls and not on the cars. Abilene has such a program and delinquents who serve community time have to go to homes and businesses where there is graffiti and repaint. It doesn't matter if they did it or not. I had my fence repainted twice. I had to supply the paint and brush but it was nicely repaired. You might also be interested to know that lacquer thinner will take spray paint off the cars. It doesn't even damage the undercoat.
These kids are groomed and conditioned by a do-nothing criminal justice system and lax community standards. We cannot even resolve to bring ourselves to identify the poor little criminals-in-training -- as they're far too young to be burdened with such a dire consequence. After a short stay at juvi' they'll be told to behave themselves, fined and once again pollute the community with their presence. There's really no reason these 3 shouldn't spend the remainder of their teenage years behind bars. People like this rarely have any redeemable qualities and we could only benefit by doing away with them. The consequences of crime should be painful and taxing, rather than a mere inconvenience. Did these 3 break "laws" or opt out of arbitrary suggestions?
Are you for real????????? Are you "alittle" off or are you just plain crazy!! I have been reading all comments for along time now...and I just had to join just to ask you "What's up with you?" To me...now just my personal opinion...seems like you think just because the "offender" young...they ought not to be punished"" What's up with you?? What if it was YOUR car that they painted....I think you would sing a different tune. You seem to talk out of both side of your mouth......as you said.."Crime=crime, period." Some kids now days KNOW they will be slapped on the wrist...personally I think when ANYBODY breaks the law..should be punished according to the law!!!...not what some people will say or think should be done. Kids get away with alot now days and personally I blame society....and "people" that say ....AWWW poor kids they are so young... What goes around comes around....as the old saying goes.... I hope you never have to be a victim......for something you have worked HARD for all your life and somebody ruins it,,,I don't care if it's $10 or a $1000....it is YOUR pride and joy... Last remark.......I love RB's response...I would go for that!!!
