Victim and Vehicle Named in Shooting at Bella Vista Apartments

 

San Angelo Police are investigating a shots fired call at Bella Vista Apartments, 4125 Ben Ficklin Road behind Travelodge on the west side of Bryant. 

Police tape surrounds two locations in the apartment complex parking lot. 

Update 8:10 p.m.

Witnesses at the Travelodge say that they were outside cooking when they heard four or five shots fired, and didn't realize that it was so close that until they saw police arrive. Several residents of the apartment complex now line the second story balconies, shooting photos with their phones and observing the police investigate. 

The manager of the Bella Vista Apartments is kicking all media off the property. 

Update 8:21 p.m.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that police activity at the Arden Ridge Apartments is related to the Bella Vista scene.

Several SAPD units and a K9 are at Arden Ridge Apartments, 3801 Arden Road. Police appear to be talking to witnesses and/or suspects at the scene.

Update 8:25 p.m.

CSI are processing the scene around a silver Chrysler Sebring. 

Update 8:38 p.m.

Lt. Mike Hernandez, Public Information Officer for the SAPD, has confirmed that a silver vehicle was shot several times in the incident. Police have apprehended and are currently questioning a suspect. 

No one was injured in the shooting.

Update 8:56 p.m.

Lt. Hernandez has confirmed that Mark Edwin Jones II, 4-13-92, has been arrested for deadly conduct by Detective Lynn Dye. Jones is a resident of the Arden Ridge Apartments at 3801 Arden Road.

The intitial call came in at 6:48 p.m.

Update April 11, 2:30 p.m. from SAPD press release:

On April 10, at approximately 6:48 p.m., officers responded to the Bella Vista Apartments located in the 4100blk. of Ben Ficklin Rd. for several reports of shots fired. Upon arriving on scene Officers located a vehicle that had damage consistent with rounds fired from a handgun.  The vehicle that was damaged was a 2012 grey 4 door Honda Accord.

Officers met with the female victim, who was unharmed and not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. An all points bulletin was put out of suspect description to officers working patrol and the traffic control program.

Officers immediately began looking for a silver Chrysler Sebring. The vehicle was located at the Arden Ridge Apartments and the suspect, Mark Edwin Jones II (4-13-92), was quickly located in his apartment.

Det. Lynn Dye responded and an investigation led to Mr. Jones being arrested for Deadly Conduct.
