Fatality in Two-Vehicle Accident on U.S. 277 South of San Angelo

The Christoval Volunteer Fire Department is extracting a victim of a two-car accident just north of Christoval and 15 miles south of San Angelo, Tx on U.S. 277. A black Dodge Ram 2500’s driver appears to be pinned inside.

Off in the ditch, 15 yards away from the Dodge, which blocks both lanes of traffic, is an overturned SUV of unknown make and model. Both vehicles are black in color. Girl Scout cookie boxes litter the area around the overturned SUV, according to eyewitnesses on the scene.

Shannon Hospital’s Life Flight helicopter has already airlifted victims from the crash scene.

It appears that the Dodge Ram was headed northbound and collided with the black SUV. The combined velocity of the two vehicles meant that both collided at a high rate of speed, and they hit head-on.

All north and southbound traffic is diverted on to the shoulder around the scene.

San Angelo LIVE! will update this story as information becomes available. We have two reporters on the scene.

Will definitely pray for the woman and pray for both families. Horrific accident.
Met a guy at the gym yesterday who is a volunteer firefighter. People make fun of the VFDs, but these guys are highly trained...and one accident like this they pay for their training.
I hope a Cellphone wasnt involved. Ive seen more people swerving on all major highways out of San Angelo because of cellphones. Texas needs to step up and pass a law restricting cellphone use while driving. Its not fair to those who are not on their cellphones. Also the work Reece Albert did on HWY 277 was pretty poor. The city needs to improve all the highways in and out of san angelo. Quit paying for cheap work and get it fixed. Better roads equal safer travel. But likely everyone will just hide in their house and not do anything. Noone likes to take a stand and fix things.
I hope not either, but before remarks are made like this, might want to think about the family that is reading it. There is no evidence that a cell phone is the cause of this. Its really easy to point fingers, but will it bring my brother back. I will take a stand, and grieving the loss of my brother at only 28. It is rude, and not very thoughtful for someone assuming that a cell phone was the cause. That is how rumors get started. This is a horrible accident and 2 people lost their lives, and the families are feeling this loss. Go to another web site to rant and rave about a comment that you have no clue about what your talking about. It is a horrible accident, and not anything anyone wishes for any family. I don't see how your comment is taking a stand, does it bring either of these families back, No it does not!!!! Accidents happen, does not mean we are going to hide, or run, but just know I will stand for my brother, and I am sorry for the other family grieving as well. This is hard enough for us to handle the loss, so please before you remark with a comment think about others! That is my stand!
