San Angelo Attracts Creatives

When Reid Barnhart arrived at the Chicken Farm Art Center for the first time she exclaimed, “This is Tuscon meets Arroyo Seco!”

That was over a year ago, and Barnhart keeps coming back.

“Every time I come to San Angelo, I end up staying an extra day,” she said.

Barnhart lives in Dallas, where she crafts her unique hats and jackets made from new and old fabrics.

The ‘textile junkie’ travels about picking out her own fabric and makes her wares by hand, some of which are featured in galleries across Texas.

It only took one visit for said textile junkie to keep coming back to San Angelo.

“They [San Angelo] have the friendliest people,” said Barnhart. “They can tell me what I need to go and check out.”

And check out she did, visiting the Lily Garden, J Wilde’s, Rita’s Bookstore, Paint Rock, Christoval and numerous local restaurants for the authentic San Angelo visit.

If you missed Reid Barnhart at the Chicken Farm on Saturday, Carriage has a few of her hats for sale and you may expect her to be back in the near future.
