Despite the Weather, San Angelo's Rodeo Performances Go On Tonight

The rodeo will continue tonight, regardless of the weather said Tom Thompson, spokesman for the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo.

The reason is that San Angelo’s rodeo sits in the crossroads of other Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assoc. (PRCA) events and contestants expect San Angelo’s prize money to push them forward into the National Finals in Las Vegas in December. “Tucson’s rodeo is ongoing right now, too. So these cowboys compete here and head to Tucson next,” Thompson said, using the Arizona event as an example.

Tonight’s PRCA performance starts at 7:30 p.m. and is advertised as the PRCA Short-Go. Each PRCA-sanctioned rodeo performance features one section of bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, bareback riding, calf roping and women's barrel racing.

If you can brave the streets, Thompson reminds everyone that the Foster Communications Coliseum is heated and warm inside.
