Concho Valley Under A Red Flag Warning

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The entire Concho Valley is under a Red Flag warning until 8 p.m. Saturday as high winds combine with low humidities to create dangerous wildfire conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, north to northwest winds at 20 to 3o mph will combine with relative humidities between 15 and 20 percent creating critical wildfire conditions.

Critical fire weather conditions will affect the entire area this afternoon and evening, due to gusty northwest winds and relative humidity values of less of 15 to 20 percent. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the entire area today.

In addition, winds will again be strong north of a Sterling City to Brownwood line today with gusts as high as 45 mph possible across the Big Country. A Wind Advisory has been issued for this area today.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Here are some actions you can take to prevent accidental fire: Observe outdoor burning restrictions, stow trailer chains, avoid driving or parking in tall grass, and extinguish cigarettes
inside your vehicle. Avoid any activity that could result in flames or sparks of any kind.
