SAN ANGELO, TX -- 36 people from three countries became United States citizens Wednesday at the O.C. Fisher Federal Building in San Angelo.
San Angelo mayor Brenda Gunter was the keynote speaker at the ceremony where U.S. Magistrate Judge E. Scott Frost presided as the new citizens took the Oath of American Citizenship.
Immigration Services Officer Eric Holman distributed the certificates following an order granting them citizenship.
There was one man from Nigeria, one woman from Panama and 34 people from Mexico. The youngest was Sonia Alegria Perez from Mexico who is 23-years-old and the oldest new citizen is Margarita Olguin Chavez also from Mexico who is 75-years-old.
The naturalization ceremony took place in the federal courtroom on the second floor of the Fisher federal building at 33 E. Twohig Ave.
