San Angelo LIVE! Introduces Women's Wednesday

Woman. A woman is a colorful, opinionated person. She is a lover, yet also a fighter. She's a daughter, sister, and niece; she may be a mother, grandmother, or wife. Most of all, women wear many hats. We are chefs, maids, chauffeurs, and accountants, and that is just in our personal, everyday lives.

If this describes you, and you want to know more about where this conversation is headed, check out our new column, Women's Wednesday, which will start next week.

I'm a fairly new journalist to San Angelo LIVE!, and this is my first job after an almost five year stint as a housewife. I'm also a full-time student at Angelo State University. Since my return to the business and education realm, I realized there's a lot of women out there like me. Women who place emphasis on family, and who have no problem fighting the stigmas of titles, such as "housewife," to provide the environment they feel best for their family.

Housewife. Now there is a term that most people of my generation today have issue with. However, women today do make the choice to stay and work from home, and somehow, these women's voices go unheard and get ignored because of that choice. This column is geared toward these women; women like me who have a voice and want to discuss the issues facing women and families today.

Some of the subjects that will be discussed include a comparison between the modern family of the 1950s and now, blended families, divorce, demographic statistics, and crime and poverty as it relates to broken homes.

We will also share recipe ideas, budget advice, product reviews, and of course the big one: marital advice.

This column will be an open discussion forum. Questions, advice, and comments will always be welcome.

Next Wednesday’s column will be strictly focused on what housewives actually do and why they receive so much backlash from women who work outside the home versus inside the home.

For those people who have any questions, comments, or a particular subject they would like to see discussed, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

See you ladies next week!
