Community Christmas Caroling at the Stables at Fort Concho is Dec. 10

On Sunday December 10 from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. a special event will be held at the Fort Concho Stables.

Titled “Community Christmas Caroling”, the event was conceived as a simple way to help foster “unity in our community”.

All area children are invited to come and sing standard, non-denominational Christmas carols all together. Songs like “Silent Night”, "Frosty the Snowman”, and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.

Theodore Boone, co-organizer and author of the book The Trust Factor Now, explains the reason for the event:

“A strong, healthy community depends on an atmosphere of trust and empathy. To do that we should celebrate those things we have in common. Children do this by nature. They just need events where they can get together and what is more fun than singing Christmas songs? So we say 'Let’s sing in the season as one voice'.”

There is no charge to participate. No donations will be sought or accepted. Everyone is invited to attend, but children do need to be accompanied by an adult or part of a supervised youth group.

”This event is built to create a positive community experience during this special season.” We want everyone to feel comfortable being part of this.” says co-organizer Del Velasquez

Third co-organizer Stephen McLaughlin adds, “This event is about something very important, yet we wanted to keep it very simple. Simple to organize, simple to attend. We think it will be more enjoyable and have a better impact because it isn’t long or elaborate. And it’s something that any community anywhere could easily replicate.”
